This scenic portion of the Greenway features a 1.2 mile loop along the old Wolf River Levee built to divert the flow of the Wolf River in 1960. While we certainly could have saved money with our food caterer distributing, at least we did not have to use alcohol from River Terrace, whose prices could have easily been inflated. The Mud Island Section of the Wolf River Greenway opened to the public in October of 2017. Eventually they allowed us to use one of the other approved caterers for alcohol that had a liquor license. It was terrible trying to get answers from them and there were several broken promises (such as some interior renovations that never came to flourishion and they assured us the awning structure would actually be covered with an awning by the wedding-that didn't happen). This fiasco turned into one of the largest planning issues of our year-long engagement.

They wanted us to sign a contract with them, initially, that said we would use their alcohol even though they could not give us a pricing quote or tell us if their license would come through in time for our wedding. They quickly changed their tune however, after they applied for their license. So we thought we would save a great deal of money by purchasing our own alcohol and having the caterer simply serve. We had been told we could use our caterer (one of their approved caterers)to distribute alcohol. Since the previous in-house caterer went into bankruptcy, the operations of the venue have been turned over to the city! Which, as you can probably guess, was a PAIN!!! Hopefully they have finally established some policies by now, but when we were trying to nail down a contract with them, they had virtually no policies.įor example, they are or were in the process of getting their liquor license. It was a nice evening so the patio seating was an option, but during the winter or on a rainy day, 230 may be pushing it.Īs for our issues with the River Terrace/Mud Island. We quite comfortable fit about 230 people for our buffet-style mix and mingle reception. Some of our friends did the same and were able to get great pictures of themselves (with the bridge as a backdrop) and thus we saved money by avoiding the recent photobooth trend. We got some great shots in front of the bridge at sunset.
